About the Devon Vintage Ice Cream Van Company

So here we are Andy and Tara, we live in Plympton near Plymouth in Devon with our two scrumptious boys, Joshua  and James. You can probably imagine the boys’ faces when we told them we were buying an ice cream van – over excited wasn’t the word!! it was not long until the whole family were working towards the same goal… to ensure we were able to offer the best ice cream van hire in Plymouth and Devon as possible!

We first spotted our 1972 Bedford Ice cream van for sale in London and fell in love with him immediately! So we made speedy arrangements to pick him up.  However being a little naïve and not realising this van only went a maximum of 40 mph and three gears – travelling the 300 miles to his new Devon home was going to be a long job to say the least!!

Of course for us it wasn’t our first ice cream van but it was our first vintage ice cream van, so a lot of attention to detail was needed. Our cute little van needed some delicate TLC to make him look adorable for weddings and events. So with the help from the mini hands of the family we set to work……ice cream van hire Plympton, Plymouth, Devon  here we come!

After a few long and exciting months and lots of decision making, we now have a beautiful vintage ice cream van – this has been made so much more memorable for us with the input from our friends and family – huge thanks to everyone.

We felt really strongly that our perfect new addition to the family should have an identity….’Bertie’ seemed like the ideal name to match his age, colour and charm, so ‘Bertie’ it is!

Into the future….

In early 2015 Bertie needed to call upon his three-wheeled cousin to help attend some of his many social functions! Florence, the vintage ice cream tricycle, is now ready for hire offering all the retro features of her motorised cousin but providing a slightly more mobile option better suited for some events.  The inclusion of Archie in summer 2016, who is a stunning 30-year-old ‘Soft’ whippy vintage van to our ice cream family, means whichever vintage vendor is chosen to appear your guests will be sure to remember tasty traditional treats and a glimpse back at yesteryear.
